2 years on

Et voila, ca fait plus de 2 ans que nous avions entame ce grand projet. Le 10 Janvier 2011 ca faisait excatement 2 ans que nous sommes parties de Londres en Eurostar, par un grand froid, avec nos sacs a dos, direction Lille pour notre premiere escale.
It has been over 2 years now since we started our big journey. On January the 10th, it was exactly 2 years since we left London on the Eurostar, on a very cold winter morning, with our backpacks, heading for Lille in France for our first stop.

Ca fait egalement 8 mois environ que nous sommes revenues a Londres, avons repris possession de notre appart et nous sommes refait notre petit lit douillet.

Et que s'est-il donc passe depûis notre retour? Ou en somme nous??

It has been 8 months since we came back to London, moved back into our flat and made it our cosy little home again. So, what has happened since our return?? Where are we?

Et ben, beaucoup de choses se sont passe et ont change:

Les beaux velos jaunes ont trouve refuge dans un beau garage a velo dans notre cour et nous les avons encore un peu utilise cet ete pour aller voir des amis dans l'est anglais. Nous les utilisons des que possible, quand il n'y a pas de risque de se les faire voler.

Our beautiful yellow bicycles have found a nice cosy home in our new cycle box in our courtyard. We used them in the summer to go and visit some friends in Eastern England and are still using them as much as possible, when there is not so much risk of theft.

Tout va bien avec l'appart. Un bon coup de peinture et c'est reparti. On apprecie d'avoir un chez nous a nouveau, un canape, un bon lit...

Everything was fine with the flat. We repainted and it looks fine. We're enjoying having a place of our own again, a sofa and a nice comfy bed...

Sylvia a mis 6 mois a trouve du boulot. Avec la crise, la situation professionnelle n'etait pas tres favorable et un break de 18 mois sur le CV n'a sans doute pas trop aide. 2 mois d'interim et Sylvia a finalement decroche un CDI qui a demarre en Janvier chez Which?, le magazine de l'association anglaise des consommateurs pour y etre 'Senior Researcher' et ecrire des articles sur le sujet de l'environement et de l'energie.
It took Sylv 6 months to find a job again. The job situation is not good at the moment in the UK with the crisis and having a gap of 18 months on the CV probably did not help that much either. 2 months of agency work and finally Sylv got a permanent position with Which?, the consumer magazine. She started in January as Senior Researcher', writing articles on topics to do with of environment and energy.

Harriet est devenue prof de yoga. A cote, elle fait aussi des beaux gateaux pour un salon de the locale, gere notre co-propriete et fait quelques traducs. Mais surtout elle fait des bebes. Et oui, notre projet de retour s'est realise tres vite et voici qu'Harriet est enceinte de deja 7 mois. Youpi!

Harriet is now a yoga teacher. On the side, she also manages our freehold company, makes cakes for a local cafe and does some translations. But above all, she makes babies. Yes, our next little project realised itself quite quickly after our return and Harriet is now pregnant! Hurray!!! Baby is due in March 2011.
